Test Team Lead/ Manager – 12 months - London The project will replace fire and rescue service control centres with a linked network of nine Regional Control Centres, equipped with the latest technology. This will improve communications, sharing data and making it easier to deal with major regional or national incidents. The FiReControl project has to: Design a new organisation structure Design new processes and ways of working, procure accommodation for the regional control centres Design, procure, install, test and commission modern, highly functional, high quality, secure, resilient infrastructure services, which provide full mobilising, resource status and location information through geographical information systems, with caller location identification Migrate existing services Establish national functions to provide the ongoing services that are required to sustain the regional fire and rescue control service Ensure that the solution meets the requirements for the Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) The technology contract for FiReControl was let in March 2007. The supplier is required to develop an end to end technical solution for the Regional Control Centres. It is the responsibility of the Client Testing and Assurance Team to ensure that the supplier plans and implements appropriate technical testing solutions in accordance with contract arrangements, and to manage the client testing programme. Pproceeding in parallel with another CLG managed project (Firelink) to procure a new national radio system for the fire and rescue services. This new radio system will be used as the primary bearer. The design and development of the technical solution is planned to take around two years, followed by a two year period of transition during which 9 RCCs and 46 fire and rescue services will be migrated to the FiReControl network.
services required are to: Assure the thoroughness and completeness of the functional testing activity being planned and executed by the supplier in the context of the contracted arrangements Assist with the planning and management of the development and execution of a comprehensive business level test including the use of test management tools Guide, mentor and support user members of the CLG test team The key principles of CLG's approach to testing the infrastructure services are as follows: CLG will monitor the supplier's arrangements for quality management and testing, which form part of the contracted arrangements, through inspection and review CLG will prepare and manage a business level test of the delivered supplier-tested solution to demonstrate and provide assurance that all requirements have been met and the fire and rescue services have been provided with the capability they need to carry out their work CLG will prepare and manage a series of tests prior to each Regional Control Centre and fire and rescue service going live to provide assurance on installation, operation, impact, etc
