Cognos Developer working with an Oracle Database. - Defence - Bicester

Demonstrably proficient in knowledge of System Life Cycle, Design, Develop, Integrate and Implement Superior Technical Solutions, be aware of the need to Drive Project success and seamless changes for technology Transitions. Be knowledgeable in Developing s/w Operational environments and be proficient in the deployment and implementation of technical solutions with clients. COGNOS is our essential skillset however some knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, forms and Reports 6i/9i Development, Minimum 2 years Oracle Development experience, minimum 1 year Oracle 8i/9i, Oracle Discoverer (Admin & User) would be an advantage, Proficient UNIX (HP-UX) Skills, Oracle Warehouse Builder (Admin and User) would be an advantage. Knowledge of ITIL framework, Analyse unit test results, conduct Impact assessments/data changes, design for optimal system reliability, develop user interface/application code, develop product and process simulations, develop and document code, evaluate client Business requirements.

As part of this role you will be :-
Carrying out the tasks assigned by the Bid Manager, PM, ASDM or Team Lead, reporting any slippage or other issues in a timely manner.
Providing technical input to bids and proposals and assist in task estimating, as requested by the Bid Manager.
Gaining an appreciation and understanding of the hardware, operating system and application software capabilities and constraints of supported systems.
Supporting the existing Application - COGNOS.
Adhering to the relevant development standards and guidelines.
Carrying out unit testing of program deliver ables.
Carrying out peer reviews of program units produced by other members of the development team.
Liaising with and assist Testers so that they can gain the necessary understanding of system behaviour to enable efficient and effective independent testing to be carried out.
Assisting Testers in the preparation of test data and in the set up of test environments.
Attending project technical meetings and meetings with the customer, as requested by the Bid Manager, PM, ASDM or Team Lead.
Advising the relevant ASDM of any technical support issues.
With the relevant Team Lead, liaise with the customer at working level, identifying and reporting potential new business opportunities.
Coach/mentor other team members in technical areas.
Produce documentation to agreed product descriptions and formats, using approved toolsets. This will include technical and environment specifications, system guides, and user documentation.


this role requires you to hold current Sc level clearance or have the ability and willing to undergo to levels required.
