An RF Engineer with experience in low power radio is required for an international design and manufacturing source of radio communications hardware for data, voice and video applications. As an RF engineer the ideal candidate will need to design and develop new RF products and own the full life cycle from creation, problem solving to future developments.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience of the following:
- design and development
- meeting specification (cost and time)
- documentation
- write test procedures and deign test jigs for new products
- support and training responsibility
- technical support to all levels
- up- to-date on latest technologies
- ‘Type approval' and ‘EMC approval'
Other requirements include:
- degree in electronic engineering or similar
- 3 yr min experience at VHF and UHF frequencies
- knowledge and experience of:
o Narrow band FM technologies
o Synthesiser design using single loop, dual modulus loop and fractional N techniques
o Single and two point modulation applied to synthesisers
o Coding PIC controller to provide control functions
o Experience of parameters and measurements associated with radio type approvals including: European ETS 300 113, EN 200 220, ETS 300 086 and US FCC Part 90
o Transmitter circuitry to power levels generally bellow 10W and typically below 500m W
o Modulation techniques such as FSK, MSK, GMSK and 4LFSK for narrow band use
o Advanced modulation techniques such as COFDM, QPSK and QAM
o Low noise VCO design and performance implications of same
o SMD techniques and associated design rules
o Designing circuitry that will be frugal on power consumption
o Designing cost efficient solutions
o Use of DSP to provide software based alternatives to conventional RF designs
