Oracle Database Administrator required to design and implement Oracle databases . The system includes Proliant servers running RedHat Enterprise Linux release 5, a Teradata MPP system and 130TB storage in separate arrays for dev-test and production (EVA and XP24000). The likely Oracle version is 10G, though Oracle 11 is being considered, so Oracle 11 knowledge would be an advantage. Oracle will run on a couple of the RedHat servers, with a database size of 4 TB. The Oracle database will support transactional marketing applications providing key business information to end-users, fed from Ab Initio ETL applications. You will work closely with data modellers, experts on Teradata, Ab Initio and backup (Netbackup) technologies, and with the end-users. User access and security requirements will need to be defined with the project security team and implemented for both production/development and test users. Note: This role is based in Watford with possible travel to Slough if/when required.
